One of my New Years resolutions was to clean and organize every closet in my house. This is pretty much a glimpse of what each closet looks like. And I just couldn’t take it anymore!!

You see, I live in a really small house. I love it, because it forces me to be creative in how I organize and make the most of my scarce space. It also forces me to throw out stuff I’m not using. It’s not that I don’t like to hoard, I just don’t have the capacity to do so.

With that being said, the closet you see above serves many purposes. I call it the PANTOOFT closet. The PANtry, TOOl shed, and craFT corner, all rolled into one. Instead of having a glorious, cornucopia of a pantry like this…

I have the left side of the closet

Instead of a tool shed with plenty of wide open spaces for rugged creativity…

I have the right side of the closet

And what girl wouldn’t want a craft room like this…

Not this girl, I’d rather have this shelf

Oh yeah, and this little gem of the house also holds the dog food, stuff for laundry, cleaning supplies….I could go on. Get the picture? The chaos needed to be tamed. So I got to work.

First off, I needed a place for all my wrapping paper. I decided to store all my rolls on the ceiling.  I got the idea off Pinterest.

All you need are screws and picture frame wire. I needed three strands because of the different sizes in rolls. All mine fit in this small space, and there’s plenty of room for more!

Next I needed a place for all my hardware (screws, nails, flat heads, razorblades, etc). They have really cute drawer organizers at Target, but I found that silverware spacers and muffin tins were much cheaper.

I needed a place for our extension cords and chain, so I hung them from hooks that I already had under the shelf. This keeps things off the floor, and opens up room on the shelves.

Next, I bought these fabric boxes on sale from Target for less than $6 each. They make SUCH a difference!

Labels : the fun part of organizing!!

More baskets saving the day…

I needed a way to store tissue paper that was more convenient then under my bed in a plastic container. I came up with an idea to drape the paper on wire on the back of the closet door.

I screwed in these hooks…

And connected them with thin floral wire

And just draped the paper over the wire.

Other helpful items to help store my craft junk and gift wrapping paraphernalia were a back-of-the-door organizer and a stackable drawer set.

Now for some before and afters

Stuff I found in the closet:

– 36 hangers

-a 3 Liter bottle of Tide (I completely forgot I had)

-3 Bell south phone books (do you remember phone books?? the old Google)

– employees handbook for Bojangles (I don’t think I’ll be needing that anymore)

My sister’s Christmas gift to our family was a photo shoot back in October. We all had so much fun that day, and I think it’s evident in the pictures that Dewberry Photography captured! Here are some of my favorites.

I love every single last one of these wackos so much. These pics make me smile every time I see them.
